The ladies are off this week to focus on the club league opening games, which by all accounts were highly competitive games across the divisions.
The girls trained in St Colmans over the weekend, their next game is away to Armagh on the 27th April.

U15 – BORN 2004 ONLY
The girls hosted Antrim on Saturday at Liatroim Fontenoys GAC in a top of the table clash. This was their toughest task to date against a team who have run up big scores against all their opposition to date. It was Down who won the toss and played with the wind in the first half. It was Antrim however who settled quicker into the game with an early goal and point before Down pulled a goal back with excellent running at the Antrim defence. It was then very much end to end stuff with both sides picking off goals and points, and both defences putting their markers under huge pressure when on the ball. It was Antrim who edged it at half time with a 3 point margin. Down started the second half the way they finished the first, with excellent running but were unable to break down the Antrim defence in the last third of the field. A few mistakes when coming out with the ball gifted Antrim two goals, but immense credit must go to the Down girls for showing huge resilience and work rate to turn the ball over many times in defence and run at the Antrim side. Final score Antrim 5-7, Down 2-4. The scoreline without doubt was flattering to the opposition in what was an extremely competitive game of football, which can only be good for player development. Huge credit and thanks to all 33 girls on the squad for their hard work and commitment all season. Next up for Down, in a decider for who makes it in to the Ulster Final, is an away game to Donegal on Saturday 27th April. Thanks to all parents for food donations, those who helped with serving the post-match refreshments and to Dolores Davidson and Liatroim GAC for the use of their excellent facilities.
