Each month during the club season we are picking a Club Person Of The Month in association with Balon Sports.

The Award is designed to recognise the efforts of players, coaches, groundskeepers and even tea makers that go above and beyond for the club.

This month’s award goes to Barbara Hyland of Ardfinnan LGFA in Tipperary.

Barbara is the Ardfinnan LGFA  secretary with 20 years and is doing an amazing job promoting ladies football in our Club and County. Ardfinnan LGFA are celebrating 50 years this year and are one of the oldest ladies football clubs in the country.

Barbara is a mother of 5 kids, (2 girls and 3 boys) working as a full time nurse, looking after a home/farm and also gives up time as a sports massuse.

She dedicates so much time to (usually when everyone else is asleep) arranging matches, training, referees and ensuring each of the teams of our club are being looked after.

She is the Ardfinnan LGFA  County Board delegate and is always on hand to help out with County Fixtures which take place at our Club Grounds. She also helps out with the mens football club and the hurling/camogie clubs if required!! She is undoubtably a worthy winner of this award.

Peggy Kennedy, Ardfinnan LGFA  club chairperson said with delightment when told of the news that nobody is more deserving of this acknowledgment than Barbara. The hours and work she puts in the Club are endless and even as a mother of 5 young kids she still finds time to be ever present.

We are all thrilled to see her efforts acknowledge and let her know how appreciated she is by all.

Well done “Babs” and best of luck in your next 20 years in the role!
