Daniel Moynihans charges kick start their 2020 Lidl NFL Div 3 campaign next Sunday afternoon with an away trip to take on last year’s Div 4 league winners Fermanagh.

This year’s Kildare panel has some changes to it, as a few players involved last year haven’t rejoined the panel due to work commitments, college and travelling but there are some new players stepping in to freshen things up.

Grace Clifford returns as Captain with the two Sullivans Siobhan & Claire appointed as her trusted Lieutenants in joint vice captains.

We see a return by All Star Goalkeeper Mary Hulgrane, former captain Erica Burke and Roisin Byrne tethering on been 100% fit, their experience will add strength and depth to the squad. Along with the younger players involved the season ahead is looking positive.

The management team also welcomes new additions with Donegal born Con Brennan who was involved with Carlow LGFA last year plus Club All Ireland winner with London, Kilcock’s Bernie Durkan as Female Liaison Officer.

Division 3 isn’t going to be a stroll by any manner of the imagination, as we have seen for the last two years, with every team well capable of taking points off each other. An added pressure is there will be no semi-finals this year as only the top two teams in the division play in the final, as Central Council wanted to give back some weekends to county club fixtures.

Hopefully the trip to Fermanagh on Sunday won’t have an affect on the panel and come Sunday evening they will have 3 points on the board, gained some confidence before they look to welcoming a tough Sligo outfit the following weekend in what should be a very entertaining contest.

We wish the team and management the very best of luck for their league campaign and season ahead. We’re going to be behind them all the way on their journey throughout 2020.

Will you?
