LGFA Remembers the 1994 All-Ireland Senior Final with Marie Crotty (Waterford) & Brenda McAnespie (Monaghan)

Sep 12, 2019

25 years ago, Waterford and Monaghan met in the All-Ireland Ladies Senior Football Final.

Waterford ran out 2-10 to 0-12 winners on the day, to claim a third All-Ireland Senior crown in four seasons.

Monaghan were appearing in their very first Senior Final – and their day would come.

Waterford prevailed yet again over Monaghan in the 1995 Final, before Monaghan claimed back-to-back titles in 1996 and 1997.

25 years on from the 1994 decider, which was played on October 9th at Croke Park, we reunited two of the main protagonists from that fixture; Waterford’s Marie Crotty and Monaghan’s Brenda McAnespie.

Marie was inducted into the LGFA Hall of Fame in 2018, and Brenda will feature on a forthcoming episode of Laochra Gael, due to air in early 2019.
